Applying for one of our animals

FOR ALL LOCAL AND NATIONAL ENQUIRIES - WE REHOME TO MOST PARTS OF ENGLAND

The procedure for rehoming an animal from us is very simple and straight forward. It has been designed to try to match you and the animal as closely as possible and also, of course, to ensure that he/she finds a "forever home" where they will be looked after, loved and happy.

1.  The first part of the process is, of course, that you need to consider carefully what you are looking for and what you can offer a possible animal. If you are out at work all day, how would you be able to provide a very active dog with sufficient exercise, and a dog with enough company, for example? If you have young children, or are planning to start a family soon, how would a dog fit in?

2.  The next step is to look at our animal descriptions and pictures and see if there is one that could become part of your family. You can see all of the animals currently in our Centre by clicking on the links in the Main Menu to the left.

3.  OK, so you've chosen the animal(s) that you want to offer a home to, now you have to let us know.

If you are local to the area
please telephone  Penny Skate, our Rehoming Co-ordinator,  on  01553     618889 between 11am to 3pm, Monday to Saturday and arrangements can be made for you to visit the Centre. The next steps of the rehoming process will be explained to you at the Centre.

If you are  NOT local to the area   please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  with any initial enquiries and/or follow the steps  below:

4.  Our interactive Rehoming Form can be found to your left.  Once you have completed this and clicked on the submit button it will be emailed to us immediately. Alternatively, you can download a printable copy of the form by clicking on the Download Forms link in the Main Menu.  We aim to get back to you as soon as possible and, in most cases, this will be the same day.

5.  We will then arrange a homecheck, but, if you've never experienced one before - don't worry. It really is quite painless! We have dedicated homecheck volunteers in most parts of the country so distance from the Centre, in that respect, is not a problem.  PLEASE NOTE THAT WE REHOME TO MOST PARTS OF ENGLAND, BUT WE DO NOT REHOME TO SCOTLAND, INTO WALES OR TO NORTHEN ENGLAND, DUE TO THE DISTANCES INVOLVED FOR THE DOGS.

6.  Finally, it's time to meet the new animal that you have chosen. We ask that you bring all the family (including any dogs you already have if you are rehoming a dog) so that we can make sure everyone gets along. If all goes well, you are asked to make a minimum donation of £80.00 for dogs aged over 1 year, and £100 for dogs aged 1 year and and under, and you have a new family member!

PLEASE NOTE:

All our animals are neutered/spayed (where appropriate and time permitting), receive a first vaccination and are microchipped before going to their new homes.   If the animal is still residing at the kennels when their second vaccination is due, this will be given to them.  However, if you adopt an animal before it's second vaccination is due we do ask that the new owner accepts full responsibility for having the vaccination administered by their own vet and cover any costs.

We do of course offer lifelong rescue back-up for all our animals.

Insurance

Vet bills can be expensive and unexpected. We recommend that you do take out insurance for your animal. There are many companies offering pet insurance. You should look for a policy that gives you adequate medical, 3rd party liability and emergency cover.

The RSPCA offer an insurance operated by AXA, who give a donation to RSPCA for every policy taken out. You can find out more by clicking here.
